Use media relations to position investment bank as national institution and grow targeted practice groups

ISSUE

Mesirow Financial is an investment bank located in Chicago. Focusing on the middle-market, the firm sought to establish itself as a national player beyond the mid-West region.The bank was also looking to raise its profile in particular industries including healthcare, where it recently added several new prominent bankers.

IDEA

KCSA implemented a public relations and eminence campaign with an emphasis on media relations, both nationally and in industry media. This effort included proactive pitching, “Newsjacking” in which KCSA inserted Mesirow professionals into relevant stories and the placement of by-lined articles in relevant industry trade publications.

IMPACT

KCSA secured dozens of editorial placements in top-tier national and trade outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Deal and Los Angeles Times, among others.
